Today was the day of our stage 2 and 3 drill competition.
Woke up at 6.40am today. Lied on the bed for a while. Wondered and pondered about how today will be like. Felt so calm, yet there's so much fear in my heart upon thinking about what i'll be having later. Closing my eyes, i said a short prayer and gave my day to God.
Dad fetched me to school. It took only about 15mins, thus i reached school at 7.30am. had 20mins before i need to do my drill theory test so i went to the toilet to find my friends and seniors. Everyone was doing their own stuff thr, wearing their uniform, tidying their hair, polishing their boots and some were just chatting and helping others. Waited for my friend to come and we went to find Officer Adeline to do our stage 2 theory test.
I got kinda confused while doing the multiple choice, but i finished it fine. Though there were many cancellations and it was messy, i got a pretty high mark as i found out later. Thank God :) i spent the whole night ytd studying after all!
After that, we fall in and a Mdm came and addressed us. She informed us that we'll be split into 2 groups for the assessment of stage 2 drill. Officer Adeline told us the groups and after warming up tgt as a whole contingent for a while, we splited up.
The other grp started their assessment straight away after a few minutes water break. With just the 5 of us, we needed to wait for our other friends who'll be taking stage 2 drill assessment with us if they passed stage 1. In the meantime, an Officer came and helped us brush up our drills and uniform. My uniform failed horribly as the haversack and belt was very loose. I had no idea why, cause i'd asked my mummy to tighten in up several times alrdy. Had to borrow and use many safety pins.
I'm so clumsy with my hands, i had no idea how to make my haversack tighter. Feeling hopeless, i tried and failed for numerous times, often dropping the pins on the floor. The other 4 were all at the parade square waiting with the Officer and i felt really scared and terrified then. Luckily, a senior had a 5min water break and she helped me neaten and tidy up my uniform, also helping me with my haversack. While she was helping me with my haversack, i suddenly felt like giving up everything and just failing my drill test. Felt really tired then. Then, it was as if God was thr with me, telling me not to give up, to persevere on.
"How can i give up without trying yet?" I took a deep breath, gathered my courage and then my senior was done with my haversack. God had sent me someone to help me and i know then whenever i need Him, he'll always be there for me. Thankfully, the Officer passed my uniform and we had a few minutes of water breaks and had our stage 2 drill assessment with the others.
There were 8 of us in total only. I think everything was quite okay, as we're all trying our best. The outcome doesnt rly matter as long as we'd all tried to our very best, yeah? Thank God the DI testing us is lenient, most of us passed.
for you who didn't managed to pass, jiayous kays! try again next yr and dont give up! hopefully you wont be so suay nxt time :)Never Give Up Until You'd Completed the Race.
